3 design skills that will be in demand in 2022

There are new type of design skills emerging, designers who can master new technologies to bring their designs to another dimension.

While there is no way, we can tell for sure that these tech skills will dominate in the next few years. I am quite sure that mastering these skills will not only set you apart from other designers, but also open up new opportunities for you that you wouldn't think about.

Low code & no code

During the past years, no-code has been gaining a lot of popularity among businesses. No code tools help you build anything from marketing landing pages to full mobile apps, to automated marketing campaigns.  

Designers who master no-code will take the lead in building marketing websites and small apps in the future.

There are many no code tools for you to learn, the most popular among them are:

• Webflow (For marketing websites, blogs, portfolios …)

• Bravo studio (for mobile apps)

VR and AR

Having a rough start to gain general acceptance of mobile users, VR, and AR (also referred to as XR “Extended reality”) has managed to get back on many businesses' radar, especially after the huge success of Pokémon GO.

Used to create more immersive digital experiences and games, VR and AR are starting to find uses in many industries like e-commerce, Streaming and even health industry. There's already growing demand for designers who can design amazing virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences using their skills in 3D and motion design.

The most used tool to create XR apps  and games is Unity which is also a very popular game engine.

3D design

There much more to 3D design than XR. In fact, many app and website designers are already leveraging the power of 3D to show their products in new and innovative ways. App designers are also using 3D to make their experience more engaging and fun. In addition to that, having 3D skills can open up the doors for you to enter the ever-growing world of game design.

3D designers will be able to create entertainment, e-commerce, and productivity apps with complex interaction problems.

There are a lot of 3D design tools, but I recommend Blender because it is free to use, and it is becoming an industry standard.
