In defense of the Metaverse

What I really appreciate about what Meta is doing with its Metaverse, I think it is a good attempt to change how we communicate online.

Taking a look at the evolution of online communication during the past decade, things have hardly seen any changes, the apps we use today like WhatsApp and messenger are very similar to the text based apps like Microsoft messenger from early 2000s.

I still believe that XR today don't have the technical capabilities to make an engaging digital experience that Meta promises, however it is very likely that we will see successful attempts of VR/AR communication apps that delivers this kind of experience to its users. And tech giants like Meta and Google are needed to push the boundaries and innovate.
